These terms apply to your use of Backyard Mate, operated by NOVALY LLC ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. The service is for homeowners in Australia aged 18 or over.

What we do

We provide a free online visualisation tool, indicative price estimates and introductions to independent patio and pergola installers. We are not a builder, designer, engineer or surveyor. We don't design, quote, sell, install, inspect or warrant any structure, and installers are not our employees, partners or agents. Installers pay us a fee when they accept an introduction; that fee never changes what you pay them.

Previews are concepts only

AI previews are artistic concepts to help you imagine a result. They are generated automatically from your photo and your choices, can contain errors, and are not plans, engineering drawings, a measure of your site or a promise of what can be built on your property. Final design, dimensions, materials, footings, approvals and compliance must be confirmed by a qualified installer on site.

Estimates are not quotes

Price ranges are indicative, based on your selections and typical pricing for your state at the time. They are not an offer, a quote or a guarantee of what any installer will charge. Your actual price depends on a site inspection, measurements, materials, footings, engineering, council requirements and the installer's own pricing, and may fall outside the range shown.

Installers and your quote

When you ask for a quote, we introduce you to one independent installer who services your area. Any call, quote, contract, deposit, payment, installation, approval and warranty is between you and that installer. Check their licence, insurance and references, and get a written quote and contract before you go ahead. We don't guarantee that an installer is available in your area, will contact you within a set time, will give you a quote, or will honour the indicative price.

Verifying your mobile and messages

To see your price we text a link to the mobile number you give us, so we know it is yours and nobody can request quotes in your name. By giving us your number you agree that we may text you about your request, including a reminder if you have not asked for a quote yet. Reply STOP or use the link in any message to opt out. Standard message rates may apply.

Your photos and content

Only upload photos of a property you own or have permission to photograph, with no people, number plates or house numbers in the shot. You keep ownership of your photos and the previews made from them, and may use the previews for your own project. You let us store and process them to provide the service, and share them with the installer if you request a quote. We won't use your photos in advertising without asking you separately.

Fair use

Free previews are limited per person. Don't misuse the site, upload unlawful, offensive or other people's content, give false details, request quotes for a property you don't own, try to access other people's information, scrape the site or interfere with the service. We may limit or stop access if you do.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows: the service is provided as is; we are not liable for decisions you make based on a preview or estimate, for the quotes, work, delays or conduct of any installer, or for any loss that is not a direct result of our own breach of these terms; and our liability to you for the service, which is free, is limited to supplying it again.

Changes and availability

We may change or withdraw features, limits and this service at any time, and update these terms by posting the new version here with its date. The service is only available to people in Australia.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and its courts.
